Welcome to Life Is a Gift

Darlene C. Doerr
On Holy Saturday 1984, a small notice in a parish bulletin became the doorway to my life’s long offering. I said yes, not knowing that simple step would unfold into 38 years of service — years shaped by trust, steady hands, and the quiet companionship of God.
When my final day of work arrived, I felt an ache of unfinished purpose. In that stillness, the Lord whispered, “Write a book.” I doubted, and He answered softly, “Write a story.”
Two years of prayer later, the words finally came.
And now I’ve written the stories He planted in me —
The ones that became Life Is a Gift.
Life Is a Gift: Gabriel & Gabriella
Some stories of love are simple. This one is not. Their story began with a kiss on the forehead; tender, fleeting, and almost forgotten as life swept them apart. When Gabriel first met Gabriella, he never imagined how deeply their lives would intertwine. Life carried them down different paths, families grew, dreams shifted, and time slipped away. Through heartache and change, love and family had a way of pulling them back together. Gabriel and Gabriella found themselves standing on the edge of love that felt destined, though delayed. This is a story about love rediscovered—it’s not just a story of second chances. It is a story of families blending, of loss and renewal, and of two people discovering that sometimes life saves the best chapters for later. This series addresses both good and evil. God is good and the devil is evil. When the devil interferes with our lives, do we seek God, or do we blame Him?
